Suomenlinna island, lying in front of Helsinki, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Finland. Originally built to defend Finland from Russia 300 years ago, it is now a must-go place for those choosing the capital of Finland for their holiday destination. And not only tourists like it: many Helsinkians go there to have a picnic, sip some beer or meet their friends who live there.
Suomenlinna is one of my favourite photography places. If you stay away from the main roads (not very big ones anyway) you see the island from another perspective. For example, I was fortunate to capture this beautiful sunset when strolling around the island. I thought this was a unique sight but a resident of a nearby house told me he sees this pretty often. Not a bad place to live!
